Stash Lab: Simple Solutions for Scrap Quilts

Guild/group lecture and trunk show – typically 1 hour

Focuses on the projects in Stash Lab and on the three scrap equations I use in many of my quilts. Mix of Powerpoint presentation, if requested, as well as sharing the real quilts.



Stash Lab 2.0: String quilts and more

Guild/group lecture and trunk show – typically 1 hour

Trunk show of 20+ quilts and focusing on string quilts and the smallest of small scraps from the scrap bin.

Scrap Science Club: Three part workshop that can be spread over three meeting days for shops or put together for a fun weekend retreat. All things scrappy: including color blocking, contrast and working with low volume fabrics, developing color stories, and much, much more. Three feature projects included.

Typically three, 6 hour sessions.


Domino: Curvy log cabin class, project featured in String Theory Lab Manual. Log cabin basics from planning, construction, to design layouts. Optical illusion of curves with no curved piecing! The possibilities are almost endless! 4 hours.Domino1


Big String Star: A fun, fast day full of string stars! Learn to make the basic string star – so many scrap and layout options – and so much fun!

Typically 4-6 hours.




First Steps to Walking Foot Quilting: Come and take a walk on the wild side – of machine quilting! We’ll explore all the ins and outs of quilting with the walking foot on your domestic machine and we’ll go way beyond tried and true stitch in the ditch. Topics include basting, set-up, and design decisions as well as several techniques to use walking foot quilting in your projects. We’ll sample match stick, wavy echo, big spiral, and many more. A good introduction to quilting with your walking foot. (3 hours)



Beginning Wool Applique: Mixing wool and cotton – a great combination. Easy enough for first-timers, enjoyable and relaxing for everyone!

Typically 4-6 hours.


SettingB60 degree triangle fun: Yes, I said fun! Working with bias in fabric can feel daunting but they can be fun, honest! The focus project for this workshop is based on my pattern, Diamonds in the Rough and features working with bias edges, construction tips and tricks, utilizing low volume fabrics and much, much more.
